Hmm. Well, the answer may seem a little lame, but I expect my new job to consume a semi-unhealthy amount of time, and I wanted something that I almost have to do that is good for me. I have a 15 mile commute right now, and there are morning where I wouldn't do it, except that the time difference between biking and any other form of commuting is negligible. This is my primary reason for looking for something that is at least 10 miles from work.
