do you have any bike coops, thrift stores, or lbs that you could get cheap bike parts at?
do you have any friends that work in metal shops, near a college with welding access, or general diy scene?

if you have panniers you might have a rear rack. strap it across the top of the rack.

done any hiking/climbing/camping/traveling, or have a friend who does? use/borrow a large internal frame backpack.

get a front rack off of an old 3speed or crusier bike and throw the 35lber on there

get a $30 big front deli basket from a bike shop - the nice, heavy duty Wald brand kind. those things can hold alot, since they clip back onto your bars. ive seen dudes put their significant others in the basket and ride around. http://www.bikecult.com

a good messenger bag will go a long way, and is worth the investment. read one of the hundreds of posts about chrome vs reload vs pac vs frieght vs bagjack vs crumpler vs manhattan portage vs bailey vs whomever. spend $150 and be happy forever.

or go bigger and get a trailer. i personally dont like the bob, but love my bikebox trailer. i put this thing to the test on a 3500 mile tour around europe, including paris-roubaix course and other muddy farmroads of italy. i keep using it all the time to pull 2 record cases around when i dj - at 120+ pounds, and the trailer handles it with ease. the 20" mags use wheelchair hubs so you push the center and they pop off easily - no unbolting or tools to fold it down. the board at the bottom uses crezon, which is an exterior plywood used in signmaking - its pretty weatherproof. the price has gone up since i bought mine, but i would still say at $279 cdn/$240 usd its a good deal. http://www.bikebox.ca/html/detailmodular_small.php
