A typical, brand-name tubing, steel frame around 56cm is about 4 lbs. Figure .5 to 1lb heavier for 4130 chromoly. About .5 to 1lb less for high end aluminum. Low end aluminum is about the same as steel. Some of the new carbon fiber frames are just under 2lbs. This is all for current bikes. Older bikes will, typically, be heavier.
