+1 for me, except I would include the late 40's, (post WWII) also.

But I bet there are many minorities and women who would say differently.

Life was so much simpler. You could call the operator on the telephone and ask the time. Your phone number was like Jackson xxxx. No area codes. Very little crime, at least that the average person encountered. What is a door lock? No AIDS. World population was under 2 billion, and USA population was about 150 million. You could go camping, and there would not be a transistor boom box blaring and blasting.

We had no one in my large high school killed in any form (last year we had several suicides, and about 6 kids killed in auto accidents in our local high school).
