The crank area is where most of the staining occurs. If you have a front derailleur, the chain shifts and there no chainguard that can literally cover it. These Hebie guards from Persons Majestic are in any case intended to work with guards covering the crank area such as the Chain Disk, in the first place. In my opinion the Chain Disk type guard is more important than the other one. Provided that you get the right size (there are two) of the Chain Disk, it will most likely fit.
Note that the Permaco site also sells Hebie Chainwheel protectors. They provide less coverage than the Chain Disk protector marketed by KoolStop and are less likely to fit an arbitrary crankset. Thus, out of the two, I'd go for the KoolStop.
