That's exactly right. Right now I am in the MS Phase (by Joe Friel). Doing this I do 3-5 sets of 3-6 reps. During this time I do a good bit of weight. However over the next few months the weight will go down and the reps will go up. Eventually I will be doing a pretty low amount of weight but I'll be doing two sets of 40 reps. In the gym I am only concerned about what one person is doing and that's me.
That's the way you have to be. I often talk to others to get ideas on new or different excercises, but as far as what weight you are pushing, you have to know your own limits. Trying to keep up often leads to injury and is counterproductive.
