I've never seen the alloy holders, but this does bring up a topic I wished to ask.

I'm aware of the fact that the CSPC mandated the rubber coverings over the ends of the SR and NR holders in '77, and I've seen both pre '77 and post '77 variants, and photographs to back this up.

However, on both my 1985 Triomphe and 1987 Victory S3 grouppos, the pad holders (of which I haven't changed since aquiring either bike) do not have the rubber coating, rather, chromed steel ends marked Brev. Campagnolo. If I'm not mistaken, the pads appear like this in the catalogues as well.

Can someone explain to me why NR and SR were mandated to have the rubber coating, but Triomphe and Victory got away with it? Doesn't make sense.
