Yes, smooth tires roll easier than knobies, if the rolling resistance with slicks is less, wouldn't this also lead you to believe it woul grip better during braking under ideal situations?
It's called friction, meaning less friction with the hybrid tires. Sure it may not seem like much to you, but if you've just switched tires like the OP did it could make the brakes "feel" differently and make the OP wonder. This does not mean that the wheel installation is correct, the rims are true, the brake pads are set right, the brake cable slack is optimum...
