I look at these situations this way; ten minutes after you buy a "new" bike that is a model year or two old, it's resale value is exactly the same as one purchased during the model year and hardly ridden.

On other words, check to see what the bike is selling for on Ebay in mint condition and add a few bucks. A very few.
