Thanks for your advice about the rear wheel - I was thinking of just cutting a piece of 2x2" to 130mm (or maybe a bit longer?) and leaving it in between the dropouts for a few weeks/months before I (finally) get around to building the bike up. Do you think that would work OK?

Unfortunately, I said check mfg specs before i checked campy's website--the seem to have deleted any direct reference to non-ultratorque specs. go planned obsolescence! i just happened to know the width off the top of my head. generally manuals with new cranks will tell you somewhere. Or most/many shops will have info listed in a Sutherland's manual. Copies of Quality Bicycle Products (QBP) have very good info on current products, but most shops will be loathe to lend out a shop copy with wholesale prices.

as far as the frame goes, it's not so much a gradual stretching process as a quick traumatic one, known as cold setting. sheldon brown has an excellent article on spacing and cold setting here.
