I'm glad everyone agrees on this thread - I just wish they would realize it. Someone said it right on the first page. Nobody thinks you should ride with the stock reflectors.
Reflectors that come on your bike are lame. They're not well attached, they can flip on your wheel and make you crash, and they're heavy.
If you WANT visibility (as in, you're ever riding at night), reflective tape does the job better, and you can use the old reflectors on the back of your panniers if you've got em. Most people who are serious about visibility use a taillight instead of a reflector (if they only go for one) because it's more visible.
So go ahead, tear the crappy reflectors off your bike - but if you ride at night, make sure to replace them with something better.
