double-fixed flip-flops are good if you ever plan on running your bike on the track and street too.. that way you can try and get 2 ratios that are street AND track friendly while still fitting in the dropouts.

also, food for thought: my quando hub has treated me just fine. Nearly 2 years of daily commuting, year round, plus some longer distance rides outside the city and it's still going fine (*knock on wood*). I've had it rebuilt once (with Phil bearings, ironically enough), but I think that's expected for a bike that got parked outside for about a year and was ridden through the winters. YMMV, however. Personally I'd be ****baked about my bike getting stolen if I had phils or something on my fixie. That's the whole point of this bike.. I can lock it up and not be overly concerned. Again, depends on what you plan on doing with the bike and how paranoid you are.
