Excellent point! My children and I wear those orange jogger vests with the reflective stipe for our pre-dawn walk/run time. I've instructed them to always assume the driver is night-blind (just walked out of their house) and is looking for their coffe cup just as they approach. In other words, always assume the driver can't see you unless there is direct evidence to the contrary.
