There was(is) a lot of research stating to the effect that meniscus repair is not always required (i.e., it will heal itself). My wife went through a torn meniscus and a terrible arthroscopy and was later told by at least 3 docs that the arthroscopy was unnecessary.
You might want to check this out before going ahead.
