You give those guys WAY too much credit for their “engineering” expertise.

Those Linskey dropouts were designed to be sexy, plain and simple – pure marketing. They are killer thin; maybe the thinnest in the industry. I’m sure they will be fine with normal usage but one good boink and they are going to bend – 6/4 Ti is basically as strong as regular 4130 steel, and you won’t find any steel dropouts that thin either. For about ˝ an ounce, they could have beefed them up significantly, but then they would be just like everyone else…thus the reason for the current design – to stand out.
