Willing to help me evaluate a Miyata?

I'm interested in finding a nice vintage bike in good working order. It's important that the thing works well, because I'm just beginning to learn about bikes.

Found this:

http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/bik/260875003.html

Plus an email that says this:

"I don't know the exact year , I am pretty sure it was made in the mid to
late 80's. The make is a Miyata model 512, which is a triple butted steel
frame. It has all shimano slr components, which are pretty much middle of
the road components. It is a 12 speed. I didn't like the color so I had it
professionally painted there was no rust on the bike at all. The bike was
kept in a closed garage for many years. I upgraded the bearings in the head
and bottom bracket just for self assurance not because it was needed. The
bike is in exellent condition and rides great. I am selling cause I have too
many bikes, I actually have the exact same bike with no modifications exept
for a shorter stem. And yes it has eyelets for racks, I actually took my
rack off of the rear of the bike. I never tried to install fenders, but it
looks like you can."

Does this seem like a good deal? Thanks.
