IRO Jamie Roy question
I'm contempating getting a Jamie Roy to replace the old steel road frame I'm currently using for my winter/rain fixie. I'd like to minimize the number of new parts I need to buy. Last year I built up a very nice set of 27" wheels with Sun Rims and Surly Hubs for use with my old conversion. Its an awesome bombproof wheelset that I'd like to keep using rather than drop more money on new 700s.
According to IRO, the JR will take 700x38s, and I'm guessing 700X32s would be the largest with fenders. I've done some rough calculations using tire circumference data from my Cateye cyclocomputer manual and the radius of a 27 x 1 1/8 tire (344mm) is only about a mm more than a 700 x 32 tire (343mm). I'm thinking it wil fit and still have room for fenders...but I'm looking for visual confirmation. Any JR owners out there..I'm interested in what size tires you have on there and how much clearance you have with the top of the fork and in the rear of the frame. Measurements would be even better!
edit: I actually measured the radius of my 27" x 1 1/8" wheel and it come out to a little less than 350mm. Its difficult to get a precise measurement with the wheel built up and the rounded tire and all..but its close to my earlier estimate.
