It's less weight your thighs are lifting and catch less air than bigger calves.
If you look at average thigh and calf sizes for elite road cyclists, you'll be surprised by how
small they actually are. Earl Campbell, a full back from long ago, had 32" thighs.
Elite American road cyclists have thighs around 53cm. That's about 20.8 inches and most likely, artificially inflated by steroids. Hulk Hogan's bicep is 24 inches.
