Actually, and embarrassing but positive update:
It turns out that he did not "bang" on the wall like I thought. In fact, the insulation I have been using is pretty good...His girlfriend was hanging a picture!!!

Holy S*it I feel sooooooooo much better now!

He had no idea why I was apologizing to him. He said that he can hear it, but it is more a light vibrating, similar to "one of those hardwood floor vacumes" (his words)...I have no idea what this is, but I'm happy it is not pissing him off...anyway, I have looked into gyms in the area and am going tomorrow. I have been meaning to for a while, this is the added motivation.
