I showed up in jeans and a T-shirt and got a lot of funny looks. There were people in front of me decked out in all their gear and they were jogging on the spot to warm up and a few of them had heart monitors on as well. I am not the fittest guy but I know that the climb is not that hard. It was very surreal.
I'm not sure if it's the same event, but I've seen shots of Toronto fire dept. doing it in full battle gear!
