After a lifetime of mountain biking, all 26 years of it, I just got my first road bike. Yipee. It's a 2007 Specialized Sequoia Elite blah blah blah. I really want to take it out of a spin on a nice quiet road this weekend, somewhere in the vicinity of 30 miles or so. I live in Glendale, and would be willing to drive about an hour out of the city. Any suggestions?

Has anyone else experienced the something-is-not-quite-right sensation going from one bike type to another? I like the fact that I can go WAY faster on my new wheels, but I feel like I have 25% of the control of my mountain bike. Is this just in my head? And I really have to stop running over anything bigger than a nickel. I see a grande taco in my near future :-)
