Reminds me of my first bike a Schwinn Clear Creek Hybrid, its what introduced me to cycling, for $250. $1,200 seems a lot to pay for a bike trail, hyrbid bike.

I have an 05 Cannondale R1000, so I know what great frames they make, but for a trail bike, this is overkill isn't it?

Wouldn't she be happier with grip shift over thumb trigger?

and 20% off of 2 year old stock doesn't seem like that great of a deal, even if the value of the frame and components are certainly there.

Is she asking for this? I would take her out and show her a dozen makes and models and see what she likes and dislikes, you probably have already done this. Good luck, after riding her 97 Trek Mountain bike, my wife is finally hinting at a road bike, heaven.
