Did you know that in 1998, I produced a very expensive TV commercial that was voted in the BOTTOM 5 of the USA Today poll for Super Bowl commercials? The national publicity....errr... "negative press" caused a rise in the stock over the next week. And while no one was happy about the content of the article, everybody was happy at the end result.

My point is - all these threads - good or bad - are doing nothing to hurt the BD business. On the contrary, I would imagine that Mike is quietly laughing all the way to the bank.

I myself have a Mercier (Yes I said the "M" word) that I purchased from Bikes Direct and it is a great bike. I have the exact same Ultegra Group set, the exact same Reynolds 853 steel and the same quality Ritchey components that many of the "Elite Cyclist" (a very loosely used term) on this forum have. You know what**********

It works perfectly. I don't care who looks down on me. I just like to amuse myself by watching ignorant people post slams against others that saved money by taking a different route than they did. The average Neophyte would think that everyone here must own a LBS by the attitudes exhibited. My question is........ Who really is the ignorant one here? I saved money. Why don't others? If certain ones here choose to throw away money, please PM me and I'll give you a link where you can sponsor me in the upcoming Tour de Cure ride for Diabetes. At least there your money will do some good!!

PS. I am in no way affiliated with Bikesdirect.com or SPRTYMAMA or any other business entity in the cycling industry. I'm just an average guy that rides a bike.

As for me.....I am an Engineer, I can afford more than I paid for my bike but why? I'd rather use my money for more useful things like paying the bill for carring a group of Boy Scouts out and building character rather than beating down confidence.
Personally, I don't have a problem with BD. I may even someday do a little business with them as I feel they offer a good product for the money. I certainly don't have a problem with people buying their products and I kind of enjoy all the banter about them here on the forums. But it's clear you've drank the Kool-Aid and swallowed the whole bit about "a $3500 for only $1400" - which in turn leads you to justify your own opinion by putting yourself on a pedestal, selling us as a saint and calling anyone who doesn't feel exactly as you do "ignorant".

I realize people can be a bit different here on a forum than they are in real life - I myself have been guilty of this from time to time. But based on what I can see, I'm not sure I'd want my sons sharing time with you at any Scout camp.
