Intel. Spot was called "Whodunnit?" and was a parody of the movie "Dead Men Don't Wear Black" with Steve Martin. Spot was shot in B/W and we hired Steve to do the VO.
The basic idea was to set up the mystery of "what happened to the Pentium 2 processor?" In the first spot, a :60 which aired in the first quarter, the mystery was revealed and several options as to "whodunnit" were presented. The spot asked viewers to go online to vote for the outcome of their choice, which was revealed in a :30 spot that aired in 4th quarter. Very cutting edge in the prehistoric interactive world of 1998. Hundreds of thousands of votes needed to be tabbed and we had to have finished spots for each option ready to air depending on the outcome of the voting.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of issues and a lot of the stuff that makes people like Super Bowl spots ended up on the cutting room floor - hence, the USA Today voters weren't too thrilled.
