interesting discoveries.

today, i got some new handlebars and a 3ttt stem for my bike. total cost was $18. not tooo shabby. that is not what i discovered.

i discovered that, a chainring that is worn enough will allow the chain to slide back and forth on the teeth, thus creating a creaking sound. it seems kinda obvious, but yeah, next time you have a creaky drivetrain, make sure youre chainrings aren't too worn. this one isn't too worn, it's not like, shark finny or anything, the teeth are just really...narrow. my cog is also screwed too, because i've been using it for a few years. *sigh* it probably also causes premature chain wear. so i'm going to try to find another black GT bmx chainring (the kind with two sets of bolt holes, 110, and 130), or i'll just bite the bullet and use the blue one that i have lying around. the blue one is relatively new, but it doesn't match the color scheme of the bike. frame is pink, rims, spokes, pedals, handlebars, chainring and seat are black, tire sidewalls, and grips are red, and everything else is silver/chrome.

i also discovered that shops with used parts ROOMS are better than shops with used parts bins. they had these CRAZY looking dia-comp brake levers...i think they were for bullhorns or something, but they had little grippy things on the levers, and the main body of them were little spheres...i couldn't for the life of me figure out how the cables would go, but they were rad rad rad!

i also took my kitty to the vet and discovered that hartz flea medication is bad for them. it causes really nasty reactions and such. also, my cat does not like getting his temperature taken. he tried to bite the vet, and he swatted a lab technician.

i love my cat and my bikes.

oh, and to make this more interactive, what discoveries have you made recently!?
