Newbie Here, Need Help Choosing Cycle Computer...
Hey everyone.
I'm new to this whole sport. I had been riding a Fuji SP-12S roadbike last summer and I really enjoyed it. It had an el cheapo Walmart bike computer on it. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to buy a nicer bike this winter to begin using this spring.
I purchased a Schwinn Super Sport flatbar roadbike the other day. I know it's not the greatest bike out there, but I got everything I wanted for a price that was less than I was expecting to pay, plus a 5 year full replacement warranty (even if the parts just wear out), so I'm happy with my purchase.
Now I'm looking for a good cycle computer. I don't know alot about them. My Walmart one just basically told me speed and distance.
Now I see all of this stuff on this site (when I was searching) about cadence and heart rate and speed and wireless and wired and....whoa, it got overwhelming quickly.
I don't know what is going to be the best setup for someone getting into the sport with intentions of getting in better shape and eventually going on some century rides and the like.
I think that I would like to go wireless, because I like the idea of not having wires running all over the bike...however, I'm not really OPPOSED to a wired computer.
So, what say you?? What kind of computer would you recommend for a beginner?? I see alot of people sayiing that for getting better shape a heartrate monitor would be best. But I see others saying that to get more proficient and "better" at cycling you need to learn to control your cadence in order to stay in the correct gear.
Any opinions or suggestions are welcomed!!
Thanks!!
