The Average Daily Traffic volume is 105,000 cars per day. The highest for any 4 lane road in the state.

The speed limit is 40 mph and the average approach speed of cars on it is 45 mph.

The number of accidents in the year 1999- 244.

It also has one of the ten deadliest intersections for bicyclists in the state.

And one of the highest pedestrian fatalities as well.
When do you startup the collection for airfare for a certain self proclaimed ÜberCyclist to come to your fair city to demonstrate by example that you don't know what you are talking about in relation to cyclist safety on this type of road.

I assume it will be a safe bet to make it a one way ticket.

Perhaps a ticket would be cheaper to Chicago for a live demonstration of safe alpha-dawg-steely-eyed-gaze cycling technique on the Lake Shore Drive. Keyboard/armchair demonstrations of Mr. ÜberCyclist's bold cycling technique on the road type you described just don't cut it.
