I found maps from http://www.touringclub.it to be really useful. If you join Touring Club Italiano you get a discount on maps from their website and on some campground fees, some hotels, and some museums. I'm not promising you'll save enough to justify the 25 euro membership, that depends on how long you stay and which campgrounds, hotels, etc. you frequent.
