I'm currently building a new commuter bike and I mentioned to one of my friends, an avid cyclist, that I was looking for parts on eBay. He urged me not to buy any used parts, especially on eBay, because the parts are likely stolen. Is my friend right or just being paranoid? And what can I do to ensure the parts I buy are legit?
