I am amazed at what I started with this simple question. Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. I have been convinced to go the colored electrical tape route. Cheaper than buying a box of handle bar tape mailorder that may or may not have the little colored finishing tape strips I wanted.

The rest of you guys can hash out the proper way to wrap and finish a handlebar.
