I'm 45 years old, have a house in the suburbs with a garage that contains a Honda and a Volvo. I teach first grade and occaisionally wear bifocals. According to the Air Force Reserves, I'm a "retiree." I could stand to lose about 20 pounds.
And yet, when I commute to work on my fixed gear, I'm much more likely to head to downtown Sacramento after work to just "ride around" than I am on my geared bike. I'm also far less likely to wear spandex or my "roadie" shoes. I should really replace the retro-cool looking moustache bars on my fixie with more comfortable standard drop bars.
Don't know why, it just is.
