I hope you're joking, but neither chainset has an aluminium alloy spindle.... They have the same cups and they are aluminium alloy, yeah, but the spindle's 4130 in both. Most of the weight saving is in slightly thinner walls in the cranks and the thinner barrel of the spindle in XT.

I've used both, and quite frankly I've felt no difference in the 'positiveness' of power transmission - on the same crank length. I'm sticking with XT solely because of this set's 180mm length.
