I've got a big @$$, so I bought a brooks 2 yrs ago (i'm polish, what do you want). It was great off the bat--while certainly it has borken in... it was never really uncomfortable to begin with. Before the brooks, i bought and returned 4 gell, cut-out, latest gizmo pieces of crap---at the end of the day the plastic always dug into my nether region and my sit bones would ache from hanging over the sides. If you;ve got the dough, i'd recommend the brooks. But a brooks saddle is kinda like a fixed-gear bike--you either love it or hate it.
