Um... I think the point was decent quality geared road and mountain bikes are pretty easy to maintain too if you're not too anal retentive about it. A bike doesn't have to be clean enough to eat off of to run well.

fixed and singlespeed is easier though, and pretty much the same amount of effort for either.
