The first morman temple is in Kirtland, Ohio. The house where Joseph Smith slept is still standing. It is now owned by the church ( not the LDS Mormons, the other major group, but not the polygamy group). Before it was owned by the church, it was a bar that my grandmother used to get hammed at, and where my uncle met his wife. I like to tell the missionaries on bikes that story. I also like to invite them in if they will have a beer with me.
