I don't know where in NYC you're gonna find a condo for 300k but you're looking at a $1600/mo mortgage if you put down 10%. Now.. on top of that, you're looking at maybe $400 for condo fees. So about $2000 total. 4 weeks a month, you gotta make 500 cash a week just to pay for that, that doesnt include insurance, food, savings, etc.

Both my gf and I have professional degrees and we have a hard enough time paying for rent. I suggest being a messenger if you can stomach the life style.
