Bizarrely, I have an old 5 speed carbon steel frame racer with steel everything (I have a bit of a retro thing going on), and that weighs about 26lbs. It's a smaller frame - 56 compared with 58, but not shorter length. I was seriously thinking of converting that to a tourer.

I also have a raleigh 3 speed, which is aroung the 30lbs mark.

Sometimes I wonder why I paid all that money for a 531 frame that a baggage handler cound dent with a sideways glance.
