Promise to look you up the next time I get down there. The group ride I did was out of Mint Hill and went mostly east fom there...pretty challenging.

I did notice that by the end of the second week, I was making better time. Two things I found (I think). First was to stay off the big ring (i.e. spin like everyone has been advising) and the second was to coast downhill and not waste a bunch of energy trying to go fast. That seemed to leave me some energy to attack the next uphill. Frankly I am glad to be back in the flats--now if the wind chill would just get above 5, I would be happy.
