An amber lens like you got is good for sharpening things up and blocking some glare, great if all you use them for is biking. A darker lens (or even mirrored) is more appropriate when that bright sun is reflecting off of acres of pure white snow. A pink lens probably works about the same as amber, I've never used pink myself
