To each his own... the harder you train, the easier the climb. My leg muscles get stronger, I guess yours don't.. whatever... no pulling necessary. The OP is talking about a specific climb using 1 gear... focusing on proper form is essential.
10% for 1 mile, thats out of the saddle the whole way, 70-80" gear and torquing on the bars for all you can, unless of course you wanna resort to a granny gear(no pun intended), and if thats the case, I will be waiting for you at the top
