I talked to framebuilders but the quotes for a fork were around $600 chromed, which is just too much. I posted in this thread because of its 'Italian' focus and vintage bias. So no mismatched paintjobs or $20 Taiwanese fork thank you... and no threadless fork either

you may want to check with a local plater. They do jobs in batches, and might toss in your fork for a lot less than what a builder would charge. The advantage of going with a builder is that he could replicate the dimensions of the original fork, whereas whatever you buy on ebay would be a crapshoot.
