Early aluminum bike can be stiff rides. I had a early 90's Trek 1500 all-aluminum bike for a while. Well built, light, quick, responsive, lively. But after 30 miles or so, I was ready to get off of it. The newer aluminum bikes ride much differently, but most have carbon forks to dampen the road noise.
