I live in CLT. Lots of cyclists here, and a lot of races in the greater CLT/Triad area, including a 10-mile TT at Lowe's Motor Speedway, a nine-race series from April to October. Within half an hour of where you'd be livin'. I love livin', workin', and ridin' here. Mountains are close, and there are a number of rides on the coast.

Commuting to uptown from there, though, tricky but possible. Some of our riders from that area could address this issue for you. There are express busses, though, that make good time and are reliable. I used to ride one from the University area myself.
