and i think the shop is called spin city cycles.
he's a great dude with awesome enthusiasm.

if you happen to be in brooklyn:
bay ridge: there's bay ridge bikes on 88th and 3rd.
canarsie: there's racer's edge bikes on rockaway parkway and avenue n.
prospect heights: bike station has been mentioned already, but +1. vanderbilt and dean.
i used to get a very bad vibe from r&a in park slope
but the last time i went with my friend there was a woman there who was mad nice.
so if you go (definitely worth a stop in) look for her.
