Thank you. Thank you very much. You give me too much credit. It wasn't so much that I was worried about color temp, per se. I was just hoping to put together something that would approximate a HID light in brightness and whiteness. I guess the extra geek points may be due anyway for knowing just enough about photography to know about color temp.
By the way, the reason I suddenly became more interested in this project is that a couple of days after LittleBigMan's original post the SWITCH went out on my 6-month-old, $400 NiteRider Blowtorch HID light. I was furious to have such a no-brainer part go out on a high-tech piece of gear. I have returned it for a refund.
