The best bang for the buck is a 36spoke wheel. Don't waste your time with low spoke count wheels. They might be tough as nails but they are not as easy to true. I would say the Mavic Open Pro or Velocity Deep V would be the best bet. I had a 28C continental mounted to my Velocity Deep V and got a flat, I didn't notice I was flat for at least a half a mile, all of the sudden I thought WTF I am peadling hard and going nowhere. To my surprise I had been going flat and not noticed. The rim is still round and true. This was not the case with my Rolf Vector Comp. It got a flat and went out of true. I took it to the shop and they did a lousy job truing. Forget this weight weenie BS and get the tried tested and true formula. It seems the modernizing of bikes today is nothing more than marketing. You can save weight at the expense of strength. The choice is yours. If you have the patience and tools build your own wheels. A 36 spoke wheel is a no brainer for reliability.
