The serial number is odd
3134469 is on the left rear dropout
G 0583 is on the right rear dropout.
Nothing on the BB.
The tag says
Cr-Mo
4130
TUBE
Japan
I guess that means the tubing is made in Japan.Nothing on the rest of the bike says"Made in where-ever"
You must be right about the lowest of the low end of their line; the frame is nice chrome moly, nice ride, decent lugs but no doubt stamped out if that is possible(or maybe cast?). The paint is also good quality considering the shine after 20+ years of neglect. There is practically zero rust on the tubing despite lots of scratches. This is unusual for New Orleans our humid climate is hard on neglected steel.
The parts are very cheap-steel seatpost with a removeable clamp, steel rims, steel handlebar.
