Does cyclist = athlete?

Quick background: I was overweight most of my life. I've lost a lot of weight in the last few years. I do Yoga every single day (night, actually) and have averaged between 2000-2500 miles the past three summers.

My wife recently referred to me as an "athlete" and that sort of made do a double take. I love to ride my bike and I love Yoga, but I've never considered myself an athlete.

Do most cyclists consider themselves athletes or just someone who enjoys a healthy hobby?

Does it depend on how serious you are about cycling?

Is there a ratio between OCPness and Athleticism?
