I think you mean exactly the opposite. With a 108 spindle, you would have to move the drive side out, moving the non-drive side towards the BB. Now if your non-drive crank is within a mm or two using a proper 109 BB (like mine was), moving the crank in a little might put it right on the bottom bracket shell (in which case, you'd be screwed and would have to get the longer spindle anyway). I chose to err on the side of caution and asked the guys at Phil. They suggested the 111 and it works like a dream.
