I bought the same pedals off ebay/BikeIsland last fall. I've only ridden them on my rollers but I like them. You definitely know when you're clipped in. Clipping out it sounds like you've just snapped the pedal in half.

This shouldn't be a problem but be sure to write the seller to make sure that the pedals have already been fixed under the Time recall. Check the Time page (http://www.timesportusa.com/) and it shows what to look for on the pedal to make sure.
